First off I picked up some of what I determined, based on many a youtube video, could potentially substitute for worbla; craft foam. The larger pack contained ten of the thinnest sheets of craft foam I have ever felt. I've used craft foam before, and this pack contained pieces about as thin as paper. I'm doubtful that this is the thickness of craft foam I could use for, say, making any substantial armor, but it will still be usable for some detail work. The smaller pack contained pretty much the same foam, just in smaller sheets. The ball you see at the top is actually a floral arranging foam piece. It's quite small, but a foam ball at Michaels can be $3 or $4, so you know, I'll find a use for it. Lastly, the items are all sitting atop a piece of foam core. Foam core is awesome. Most likely I will use it to make the core for certain weapons, particularly blades. It's huge, and cheap, and awesome.
Second, I picked up some sweet batons. I will be using these as the base for a variety of staffed weapons. I really like the middle one, the light sword, because it lights up. Previous to this haul, I used one of these light swords to make a hawkgirl inspired mace, which I'll be posting soon. Buying these is often much easier/ cheaper to use than wooden dowls. No sawing, and often they have many more interesting shapes than just a wooden stick.
Finally, I picked up some random materials. I got this cute plastic jar which I am now using as a piggy bank. I got this awesome pair of Betty Crocker brand scissors, to use specifically for cosplay. I also got some cling wrap because I've seen all these awesome tutorials for making patterns with it. I also picked up this FBI kit because I want to try repainting the gun. And also a cherry coke to stay caffeinated. Stay tuned for a Michaels haul and a tutorial on my Hawkgirl injustice mace!
